Our Design Process- Step 2: Our Garment Moodboard

Working with the talented Melbourne Fashion Labs to create our first collection meant that they will help us produce six technical drawings from a set of mood boards I create on Pinterest.

First of the four is a garment board, consisting of inspirations from other lingerie designs I like. The second is a fabric & colour board, consisting of the exact types of fabric and colours we will be using. The third is a lifestyle board, consisting of inspirations from other lifestyle & cultural factors that we will be using and lastly, a packaging board, consisting examples of how we will be packaging our garments.

Today, I will be walking you through the first of the four, our garment board.

Here’s a few snippets of what I had.

I love floral designs, so naturally, I wanted to incorporate as much of it as possible in our designs. I also wanted to incorporate subtle asian design influences to fully allow this collection to represent our brand and create something our customers can truly identify with.

As you can see the example designs are all very minimalist yet elegant and that’s how I want this collection to feel too.

Our garment board contains lots of images of bralettes, a few one-piece, a couple of padded bras and undies inspos. Our first collection will be made out of 2 sets of bralettes, 1 set of padded bra, 1 one-piece, 1 printed set and 1 set of undies. Just typing this makes me so excited!

In the next article, I will show you how we decided on the types of fabrics to use and some snippets of them. If you are interested in reading about the first step of our design process, I wrote an article here

I had a lot of fun creating moodboards, especially the garment board. I couldn’t stop scrolling through Pinterest looking for more inspirations, it was SO addictive! If you are interested in starting your own line, I would suggest you to start looking and collecting inspirations.
